Sydor Technologies' Single Stage Gas Gun & Gas Gun Testing Chamber
Sydor Technologies’ Single Stage Gas Gun is a high-pressure, high-performance test platform that achieves high projectile speeds using a fast-acting shuttle valve to release a calibrated volume of gas. Operators set the gas pressure before each shot to reach the target velocity. Achieve up to 800 m/s—extendable to 850 m/s with optimized barrel, pressure configurations.
The Sydor Gas Gun Testing Chamber is designed for safe indoor testing of ballistic materials in a laboratory setting, using non-explosive projectiles.
Together, these two products form Sydor Technologies’ Gas Gun Package: a comprehensive 2-in-1 solution designed for ballistic test labs and research centers seeking controlled, repeatable projectile testing.
About The Single Stage Gas Gun
The standard configuration is designed to accommodate 7.62 mm rounds for NATO (STANAG 2920) Fragment Simulating Projectile (FSP) firing.
Other calibers can easily be added from 0.22” through to 12.7 mm rifled and up to 42.2 mm with smooth bore barrels.
Firing is accomplished electrically, to allow for remote operation and providing users with a safer environment. For added user safety, the unit can easily be connected to the firing circuit through door interlocks.
An optional Gas Booster is available to optimize the use of the helium gas. For larger projectiles at slower velocities an optimized configuration has an integrated fiber optic velocity sensor on the barrel with a protection plate around the muzzle.

About The Gas Gun Testing Chamber
The Sydor Gas Gun Testing Chamber is designed for safe indoor testing of ballistic materials in a laboratory setting, using non-explosive projectiles.
Access doors allow for ease of cleaning and the changing of targets within the chamber. The design also adds additionally security as velocity measurement systems and other data acquisition equipment are housed outside the chamber.
The Chamber is provided with an interlock system which links to Sydor’s Gas Gun, rendering the gas gun inoperable if any of the access doors are not secured, thus making the system safe.
The base set up involves two tunnel sections and a 1m³ chamber however Sydor can provide custom sizes and set ups upon request. For example large sized chambers can allow various target frames to be inserted. Tunnels and chambers an also have viewing ports added to them.
